The form presents us with all the relevant details of you and your item in a standard layout,

FAQ #1: WHAT DO I NEED TO SEND MY ITEM SAFELY?

ANSWER: 6 'THINGS'

1: The Pre-Registration Form having been completed;
2: ...your Item;
3: ...some Bubblewrap (or some offcuts of foam ... something to resilient and padded to wrap the item in);
4: ...some Brown Tape (i.e. Parcel Tape);
5: ...a "PERMANENT" thick-felt Marker;
6: ...either a stout box or a good quality padded envelope (e.g. "Jiffy-Bag"),
...
With these simple things you are ready to begin.

Like most things in life, if you follow some simple 'Rules' you can often avoid trauma.
We recommend then the following 3 Rules when packaging heavy, awkwardly shaped, or valuable items.
This will ensure that your item is more likely to arrive safe and sound, with the minimum risk of damage in transit.

Start with the next 3 standard 'Rules'; bear in mind the following 6 'Guidelines'; ... and your packaging should be worry-free.

(We would always recommend using 'Recorded Delivery' for your piece of mind)

'Rule' 1 :-
Leave nothing to 'chance'. Make sure the item is fully insured before posting to us. If in doubt check with your Insurance Broker that your domestic insurance covers personal items sent for repair.
'Rule' 2 :-
If you are sending from overseas ...do NOT put the original value of the watch or item on any customs form, ...or you will be charged import duty. Actually WE will be charged import duties,(which will upset 'us' at the time, and then 'you' when we seek reimbursement of them with costs!)
Note: Customs are interested in items which attempt to avoid import Duty, but as your watch/item is not being truly 'imported' to the UK, and is only coming to us for repair, you should mark your Customs Declaration as "Watch (or 'clock' or 'item') for repair - has no value".
'Rule' 3 :-
Ensure you have confirmed compensation for loss or damage with your carrier or Post Office before shipping. Our liability does NOT include any claims for loss in transit however they might arise. (To date, we have not had any item permanently lost during our many years of service. Inexplicably delayed at times .. yes, but never yet 'lost'.) I just hope these don't turn out to be 'famous last words'.

We receive and dispatch the majority of our watch repairs by post and have done so since 1980.
Our turnaround for repairs is normally just 21 days. But please Note that IF we have to obtain parts from outside sources, such as specialised dial repairs, enamelling, specialist seals, or glasses; ... then the time to repair can be longer. In some instances full refurbishment can take many months in order to effect our Professional standards of repair.
We do keep a considerable stock of materials (including popular replacement movements) but we can't possibly hope to hold everything.
This is especially true if your item is collectable or antique and out of production.
Therefore please be patient with us if we have to wait for external materials to arrive or be sourced.
Often with older items we have to make, or have made, the part.
For some rare elements this can take over a week just to clear and set up the specialist machinery involved.

Postal submission of your items should be easy, safe, trauma-free, and reliable; ...IF the 'Rules' above, and the 6 basic guidelines following are adhered to.
