BIRTH SIGNS


Around the world different cultures have adopted different gems as the symbols associated with birth signs.
The following list is that which is typically used within the UK.

AQUARIUS GARNET Garnet as a birthstone endows the wearer with friendship, power and constancy
PISCES AMESTHYST The Greeks believed that wearing this stone, gave the wearer freedom from drunkenness but today this gem is a symbol of serenity and id said to have the ability to inspire virtue and high ideals
ARIES (1) AQUAMARINE During the 14th Century Aquamarine was said to protect the wearer from the ravages of poisoning and it was also believed that the stone quickened the intellect, but today it seems to have been relegated to the chore of curing distemper.
ARIES (2) BLOODSTONE A dark green chalcedony, spotted with red which in the Middle Ages was often used for the treatment of blood poisoning
TAURUS DIAMOND It has the legendary power of protecting the wearer from evil, especially when worn on the person’s left side. According to ancient lore if a diamond was to bring luck it had to be given freely, never coveted and never taken by fraud or force
GEMINI EMERALD Its qualities as a birthstone are love and success so that it ijs appropriate that it should have been described ad the favorite stone of Venus, Goddess of Love
CANCER (1) PEARL The pearl is said to confer the great gift of vitality
CANCER (2) MOONSTONE The moonstone is supposed to enable the wearer to foretell the future
CANCER (3) ALEXANDRITE Alexandrite was discovered in 1831 and is named after Tsar Alexander II of Russia. Traditionally Alexandrite can assist in centering the inner self, reinforcing self-esteem, and augmenting ones ability to experience joy
LEO RUBY The ruby is said to have the capacity to bring relief to pain, to protect the wearer from drowning and to cure rheumatism
VIRGO PERIDOT This gem is said to ensure the wearer married happiness and it is also said to symbolize eloquence and persuasiveness
LIBRA SAPPHIRE The beautiful blue sapphire is a symbol of clear thinking and is said to give charm to the wearer and the ability to inspire everlasting love
SCORPIO OPAL This stone symbolizes hope, faith and good fortune and is believed to bring romance and lasting love
SAGGITARIUS TOPAZ This gem was believed to have the ability to ward of insomnia and asthma. Today however, the qualities are regarded as being fidelity and true friendship
CAPRICON TURQUOISE The primary quality of the turquoise as a birthstone is that of bestowing prosperity on the wearer and symbolizing good fortune and success for Capricornians
